Since you last heard from us we've travelled through two more countries, leaving France behind. First there was Switzerland for a few days and then the tiny country of Liechtenstein wedged between Switzerland and Austria. But first I'm going to backtrack to our last couple of days in France spent in the beautiful Alps in the town of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. We left Annecy behind and headed west to Chamonix to get a close up view of western Europe's ...

... every lane we change. Today's most tense passages were done without sat nav. Today we got lost for 8 miles - without sat nav. I'll willingly do the advert... Tomorrow will be easier because it has to be. About 100 miles to the schloss and therefore more time to find a campsite where hopefully we can relax for a couple of days. Germany has been pretty but also pretty tense. And ridiculously full. The pay-off? Pils at 50p a litre from Lidl. And the view to ...

We were turned away from the campsite as it was full but they told us we could park for 12 hours around where the swimming pool carpark was. Perfect. During the war ...

... at indoor fairs, these towns have small wooden booths which take several weeks to set up that fill their streets and squares. Lindau's market does start until next week.

For a small place it has lots of different restaurants. Greek, Italian, French, Donairs (of course), Swiss, German and Sardinian. Yes, yes I know that Sardinia is part of Italy.

The Sardinian one was interesting. It was like a Sardinian import store ...

... lot near the train station, and had a bit of a walk back. We dropped off our stuff in the room, headed into town, and grabbed a nice casual dinner at an outdoor café at the Altes Rathaus. Delicious asparagus with Black Forest Ham, Tafelspitz (boiled beef with horseradish sauce), and Hahnchen Kurbis (chicken with sweet potatoes).

Tomorrow, another big day of driving - we're off to Lucerne! Hoping to see lots of the Alps along the way.
