... and walk almost everywhere in town. Kaye brought her suitcase with her as she was leaving on the Tuesday and with the car being out of action we thought it would be safer for her to be in town in order to catch the train. We had a lovely lunch at Katy and John’s. Happily I got the car fixed on Monday so I was able to go back and have dinner with them on Monday night.

We have breakfast on the Terrace that provides us with a great view of Lake Como, the sun is shining, a family of swans are swimming past. The breakfast spread is good, coffee is good, ah Bellagio it is everything we expected. We say farewell to Milan with a taxi to the Central Railway Station which is huge, try to purchase tickets from carne machine but it won't accept my credit card, luckily a nice gypsy woman just happened to be looking over my shoulder and offered to help and we get our tickets. Grazie mille, but she doesn't want my thanks as she has just come out of hospital and needs some money. She still had the bandage on her arm! Feeling sorry for her ...

... is close so this should be simple. Except, our bags have grown mysteriously heavier at each stop and it’s a bit of a challenge dragging them along the cobbled streets. No problem, it will be relaxing on the train. By process of elimination, we find the right platform, negotiate the steep steps on to the train and find our assigned seats. The bags are more or less piled with all the others at the back of the ...
