Secondly, things happen which mean you have to make dramatic changes to the
day’s menu, or in my case the whole week’s menu – rather alarmingly, as it was
my first day on the job, the meat order for the week did not turn up! On investigation, i.e. yours truly on the phone to the supplier, I discovered eventually (Swiss German being not the same as
German German!) that they had no record of our order and guess ...

... much chocolate going on there). However, I did have a rather manic hour before our guests arrived (early!!) because I had not done enough prep or read the menu properly – a very good lesson for my next adventure, when I will be cooking for up to 12 adults at a time.
