... in Osteuropa unterwegs.
Wo er denn hinwolle: Nida. Wie praktisch! Ob wir nicht zusammen gehen wollten? "Sure."

Also ich nich. Und wenn ich mal einen treffe, wird er ausgequetscht! Sollte dann auch 3 Tage Zeit haben ;)
Der Typ is crazy!
Naja, wir haben uns dann die Unterkunft geteilt und zusammen die kurische Nehrung unsicher gemacht.

Nida & the Hill of Crosses

On our way to Nida we stopped to visited one of the most pilgrimage places I have ever been. It's a Hill of Crosses nearby Siauliai City. People come here, leave crosses, icons and pray - and the energy on the hill is simply amazing.

Nida is a resort town in Lithuania, located on the Curonian Spit. When we visited this ...

Klaipeda

... dark at night when walking back, but didnt feel unsafe to me. From the hotel to old town takes around 15 minutes on foot. Most of the way is a shopping street. The old town it self is small and not very exciting, but has some nice restaurants and bars. I had dinner somewhere outside in the city centre, which was very cheap. This being a Sunday evening, it was pretty quiet.

Palanga & 1000 year Lithuanian celebration

... the waterfront, stopping occasionally. At one point, I notice a lot of nude people. As I observer more closely, it is all women. I had passed onto the border of the women only zone. I quickly turn around. There is a sign at the entrance in Lithuanian. No pictorial sign like I had seen before. Oops.

Lots of wind kept people against the sand dunes. There is a network of sand areas inside the dunes ...

Beach weather at last

... the US but is starting to really hurt. Not good when I have to carry 75 pounds of stuff.

Only 1 hostel in Klaipeda. It borders the bus station. Rooms seem to be clean. I an in a 12 person with 2 or 3 beds taken at the moment. Not many reasonably priced choices and the reduced impact to my back from a close place wraps it up. It is only a place to sleep.

I am off immediately to lose my family resemblance to Casper. How white can I get? A 20 minute walk ...

It must be the Axe body spray!

... Euro! It had the worst seats inside - they were nothing more than a piece of leather stretched over a box. It felt like you were sitting on a flaccid drum. Next was the clock museum - kind of cool but kind of boring. Mary was denied a student discount - she's been using her expired student ID card with great success so far. Back to the B&B. We had dinner at "Kaimas" - the restaurant looked packed and had very enticing ...

Spitting is not always rude

... on a lady clearly locking up. She is unaware of a bike stand, and sure enough although it's in all the literature and on all the signs, a call to the bike hire people confirms it to be true and they tell us to take the bikes back to the halfway town, Jundekrante. Having cycled 50km in 3 hours I would have gladly agreed with Sean if he suggested we leave the bikes where they are but he rightly says we should take them back. I realize a soon as ...

When In Lithuania

... s do'. We found a quiet corner of the beach and got our gears off. We didn't stretch it as far as prancing down the beach, but we made ourselves quite comfortable in our quiet corner and worked on our tans. We eventually headed back to our nice guesthouse and enjoyed the wonderfulness of it. Tomorrow we've got another early morning trip to Riga! Looking forward to the 5 and a half hour bus trip to Riga. Hoping for some improvement! All our best from Lithuania Dan and Gabrielle

Its Spitting

... owned a travel company that arranged small guided tours around the Baltics. We picked up an artist on the way back and he decided that he was going to draw some pictures of us, we ended up with one of Laura B and another of Laura H and I. I have to say they weren't the best but still its a nice present for us all the same, shame Paul missed out. The guy drove us all the way back to the hostel and wouldn't accept any money for the favour.
