    ... into the cathedral. Only cost 2 euros each and that gave us entry to the Cathedral and the Museum. There were also other options, but this seemed the easiest to start with. While we were waiting in line, a number of female tourists were turned away from the cathedral line because of their inappropriate dress.     ... long and largely incomprehensible story in Italian and broken English about a boat he was on that went to Melbourne. He seemed to like talking to me more because I could knew some Italian and he persisted to talk to me even when the others had moved away, scared by the strangeness of the encounter. Finally I managed to grasp his hand in a solid farewell gesture and assert that we must leave. He hoped to see us again...we hoped not. At least I got to practise some Italian! ...

    ... Carlsberg beer. She had difficulty understanding my order until I realised that she wanted to see our tickets and that beers could be purchased from Carriage 3. I made my way down to carriage three and purchased a beer and a coffee for Sandy (no croissant) and made my way back to carriage one.
