    Today we wandered all over the city of Bruges. We went up into the Belfry Tower. We had to climb 366 very steep and narrow steps to get to the top. Coming down was interesting because it was the same entrance and exit. You had to stand aside to let people go buy. There was only a rope to hold onto most of the way up.     ... which actually worked out fine – we all headed inside for drinks and hot soup and sandwiches. The mayor of Oostburg gave a speech, and by the time we were ready to start again, the clouds had started to clear. We marched to the City Hall for another ceremony and then pressed on. By this time, our feet and legs were starting to ache, and we were only halfway through.

    ... down by local beer(Geoff) did the job! After lunch we strolled around, window shopping , stopping only to buy Geoff some swimming trunks. This proved to be a bad decision as on exiting the shop the heavens opened and we were soon more than a trifle soggy. We opted for an early return and to make our way back to the station via a couple of interesting churches. The churches were our undoing.
