We arrived early to our home away from from home in Bruges yesterday morning; our scheduled 7 1/2 hour flight turned into a 6 1/2 one with a tail wind that was a little bumpy but super fast! We love our cute rental house; it's cottage style but with modern artistic lighting, our own quaint courtyard, and a 5 minute walk to the main market. Bruges is everything we imagined, cobblestones, beautiful ...

... which actually worked out fine – we all headed inside for drinks and hot soup and sandwiches. The mayor of Oostburg gave a speech, and by the time we were ready to start again, the clouds had started to clear. We marched to the City Hall for another ceremony and then pressed on. By this time, our feet and legs were starting to ache, and we were only halfway through.

After a few more hours – and another stop at the Holy Water ...

... area and started walking. It's a good thing we had the map, although not always helpful, because next to Venice, Bruges ranks right up there on the confusion, turned around, where the Hell am I scale. However, I did have help from my crack navigator, Joanne. It never ceases to amaze me how she can have no idea what direction we are going but she knows we need to go past the Clark Shoes, turn right at the chocolate store and left at the gelateria. Who says males and ...
