Ostend, Belguim was a quick 2 night stopover on our way to Amsterdam.

It had a huge beach and a large esplanade with some cool orange art features.

It was empty of people and would be one of those places that come alive in summer.

We did a day trip to the nearby gorgeous city of Bruges.

This is a cool city centred around a couple of big plazas, lots of canals and pretty photo

After a few more hours – and another stop at the Holy Water ...

We left early at 8am after pancakes for breakfast, leaving 1/4 of our group behind, as they were continuing their travels from there. The bus felt rather empty! We headed to Brugge, Belgium for a whirlwind visit, arriving in time for lunch! What a beautiful city! So deserved much more time than we had to give. Had a quick walking tour then free time. I found a christmas ...

... on. We wandered around and found ourselves in Burg Square again and realised we were just in time to see Christ's blood at Basilica of the Holy Blood. Thierry of Alsace brought the vial containing Jesus' blood on it to Bruges after the Second Crusade in 1149. Seeing it was...well, surreal isn't the right word. I had read that it was just an old, brown drop, but it wasn't like that at all. It looked like exactly what it was supposed to be - blood. Only ...
