      ... earrings! The men were trying hard to keep the kids in control including even getting them gelato, but we still had to cut the shopping short. The guy in the store was learning to make glass, so he made a frog and ladybug while the kids were watching. He said he would give them to us if we came back tomorrow, but sadly we couldn't!       ... that I am finding a great variety in food - pasta;pizza or risotto with a few other dishes added in. Still, I am doing fine on pasta and of course gelato. Every second shop sells gelato.
      wednesday - when we went out this morning there was a fog so we caught the ferry back over to San Marco (the principal square in Venice). There were quite a few people around but we decided to do the tour of the Doges Palace first before exploring further. Glad ...

      Off to VENICE for the day with the parents! Of course it is raining again and is not suppose to stop anytime soon, so the tour company we were going to go with canceled last minute so we decided to be adventurous and just go on our own. We took the fast train so the time it took to travel was only around two hours, rather then 6. It was such a great investment and worth the extra twenty euros. This was my first time on one of the fast trains and it was definitely a lot ...

      ... and was hobbling along. I volunteered to piggy back her when we were near our hotel. I thought about this after and realised we would have looked ridiculous. Thank goodness she turned down those well and truly good intentions. I saw 2 island girls! I was tempted to ask them where they were from but then couldn't be bothered really. The vibe in this area was lively. They had specific rules for this area. Each restaurant provided a live band. Unfortunately you couldn't "picnic" ...

      We woke up and attempted to find the nearest grocery store to pick up some toiletries and a snack. What we thought would be a quick jaunt ended up with us walking on the highway with no side walk, dodging speeding cars, tour buses, and semi trucks. That was interesting. I just figured it added to our adventure in Italy...I don't think Shannon had the same optimistic view as I had...As she brushed off bugs and branches off her leg from the side ...
