    ... on the Northern side of Venice, near the Fundamente Nove water bus stop. We stayed at a 3-room apartment with a living room and kitchen. Each room had its own bathroom. It was very nice to stay in a home away from home. We even had a dishwasher and a washer and dryer. Each room had lovely paintings of Venice and nice furniture.

    ... we heard a mighty shriek followed by the sound of breaking glass. Someone had knocked over and smashed something in the store. Thank god it was not one of our kids, I would hate to pay a lot

    ... the water bus, "vaporetto" going to St. Marco, near our hotel. Finding our hotel and checking in was a piece of cake and as our room was ready, we were able to unpack and shower and then hit the streets. The ride on the vaporetto made the trip worthwhile by itself. It travels down the Grand Canal, which is lined with Renaissance Palaces, gondolas, peeks into adjoining canals and all crossed by some beautiful bridges.     I LOVE VENICE. This city has been likened to an enchanting woman, and indeed it seems as if it exudes feminine energy and beauty. Not that there aren't hard working men with diesel fueled boats and shadows contrasting with the subtle plays of light on the folds of her skirt.
