      ... This was the kick at the end of the day because it was slightly up hill and when you are at the end of a long day it is really tough, physically and psychologically. 162km, 2550m of ascent.
      But here we are, fed, watered and having had a bit of nap. Time to scout out a restaurant. The brasserie Cafe de la Paix gets good review. Then I need as much sleep as I can get. Tomorrow will be a tough one that includes the Tormalet - the giant of the Pyrenees.

      During the night the wind howled around the refuge and the rain pelted the building. In the morning the weather forecast was for showers in the morning with winds up to 80 km per hour, and rain in the afternoon. Not very promising! We discussed descending to the valley with the guardian of the refuge, who told us it would be OK as long as we took care as one section of the track has very slippery rocks.
