Just when we thought Venice was the most beautiful place we would visit in Italy, Varenna may have beaten it into second place. Neither of us can get our heads round the fact that we are actually seeing what's around us. The apartment is amazing and the views from the balcony alone are worth the trip. Claire has also befriended a blind cat so we keep having to think of excuses to go and see the lady so Claire can rub the cat.

... the sounds and lights of the show flooding the skies. I couldn't hear the tour guide, as the music was pretty loud. We descend to the shore of Lake Como to Bellagio by a winding road. There we take the car ferry across the lake to Cadenabbia, where we take the road to Lugano. We have been told to take our passports as Switzerland is not in the Schengen area and therefore, unlike our entry to Austria, there is an actual border post. ... scared, to enjoy every snorkelling trip I get. The waters are paradise with their silky feel and clearness, most of all, the water is not freezing! The sea life: turtles, whale sharks, crabs, lion fish, trigger fish, etc…. are all beautiful and so intriguing to watch.
