In the morning, we said goodbye to Bruno and Huerto de Montesinos early. We then drove to Barcelona. When we arrived, we went to our apartment. It was right next to the Sagrada Familia! Then it was time for lunch. We had pizzas and tapas including sausage, bombas and pizza. Daddy had a calzone - which was the yummiest one he had ever had. Then we took the train (2 trains actually) to Parc Guell to see an amazing view of the city out to the sea. To get to the park, we had to walk up ...

... end which was a feat of negotiation with the number of people. Our guide said that it was as busy as summer on the particular day we visited. Had a wander on the beach and then back to the plaza Jaume area to put away our bikes. Great way to see Barcelona. Once we left the tour area Charlotte managed to do a bit of shopping - certainly no shortage of that in Barcelona and then we had a plate of tapas and a beer before wearily walking back to the ...

... electronic items, materials, clothes, toilet cisterns - yes, even them. Plus many 2nd goods sellers of every other item one could possibly imagine ever existed in all the universe was on display and I'm sure a price could have been haggled for whatever took ones fancy. I was more amazed just wandering around (though privately wished I had some room in my suitcase coz there were many things of vague interest). But the roof was a work of art in itself with a mirror-like ...

My little apartment is absolutely adorable. Most of the streets in barri gothic are pedestrian only, much too narrow for a single car to go through. I was a little worried when I first started down the alleyway but the I saw the huge door for the building. I wonder how old it is. I am now the proud carrier of an actual skeleton key to open that bad boy. Maria is the property manager. Lovely ...

Barcelona Sightseeing - Trip day 44

The majority of today was spent on a hop-on-hop-off bus doing the touristy thing around Barcelona. They are €27 for a single day pass. They travel on two routes. One goes east sling the sea past the harbour and where much of the seafront was revamped for the Olympics in 1992. We hen transferred to the second bus route which goes west up to the more exclusive parts of Barcelona and the FC Barcelona stadium. On both routes Antonio Gaudi's handy work can be seen - whether it is ...
