Quepos, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica
Quepos/Manual Antonio was our last stop in Costa Rica, and our base for our Canopy Tour, and our Canyoning Trip. Canopy Tour seems to be an invention of Costa Rica's. It is basically ziplining through the tree tops. It was great fun, and highly recommended. The best part was the "Express Repelling". This is where you trust that the Costa Rican at the bottom of the rope to pull on it just before your free fall hits the ground. It was a little nerve racking, but after the first one it was lots ...
Manual Antonio, Costa Rica chrismyersKaren We woke early to catch the bus to Manuel Antonio/Quepos. Breakfast was pancakes (finally! I had been craving). They were fluffy and delicious, and accompanied by the fake American maple syrup I hold so dear. Sean and I hit the Dramamine pretty hard, and my head hit the back of the bus seat like a ton of bricks. At the first rest stop I remember waking and feeling like my body was made of lead, I couldn't even get off the bus. I slept until the second hour where we stopped to walk across...
Quepos, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica karensweetlandKaren Its awfully depressing to think our trip is winding to a close, but I'm determined to soak up every last minute in Ticoland. This morning we woke up early to catch the catamaran/snorkeling tour after literally BATHING in 50 SPF. I applied four times today, but still got slow roasted. All I need is a tangy chutney and I'm ready for the menu at Smith & Wollinsky's. The boat ride out was absolutely delicious. Sean and I laid on the netting of the bow, catching some rays and staring at ...
Quepos, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica karensweetlandAfter almost seven weeks, many breathtaking sites, memories I will never forget and adventures greater than I ever thought possible, my time in Costa Rica has almost come to an end. This will unfortunately be my last entry as I am returning to Montreal on Saturday....I am returning without any regrets and an entirely different view of the world and a much different view of myself than I had before coming to Costa Rica. At the beginning of last week, I caught an awful cold which really slowed ...

Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica la-vie-de-suzToday we took about a 5 hour bus ride to Quepos which is on the coast of CR ... which also means beaches! It's been a long time since we came across nice and hot sunny weather since Lima and Lima wasn't even that hot. We stopped in a few places to snack and go to the potty but that was about it. It's pretty much put on your earphones, turn on the music kind of travelling deal. We took some pics along the way and got excited when we saw the ocean! It means that we are close. As we drove down, ...
Quepos, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica lisatsenToday's entry will be short and sweet as all we did was go to the beach early in the morning at around 9:30 am, had breakfast at one of the restaurants, then relaxed on the lounge chairs under umbrellas on the beach. Note that you have to pay for planting your asses on the chairs and using the umbrellas for the whole day or even hourly. Helen was able to haggle us to 8000 Colones (or about $17 US) for the rental. Crazy. But hey, we wanted to relax and do nothing once during our trip and this ...
Manuel Antonio National Park, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica lisatsen... thieves, so we had plans to keep all our gear in sight and safe. As soon as we arrived we ran into Susan, who had been on our tour from Mexico to Guatemala, and she had just had her day pack stolen with her passport and cameria inside. Problem! The bus took longer than expected due to road works and an accident or two, so we arrived in Manuel Antonio in the dark. It was raining too and we didn't have any accommodation booked. A guy met the bus and took us to his hostel to see ...
Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica tphilip75... was in Corcovado National park. To get there we caught a bus, taxi then boat. The boat ride got very exciting when the river we travelling calmly along met the incoming waves of the Pacific ocean. Ride 'em cowboy!! Our lodge was OK, we even had electricity in the main room but the manager was definitely a bit odd; think 1 part Freddy Mercury to 2 parts Rowan Atkinson. "Mmmm...muuuuuy buuuueennnn," he'd say to everything. However the situation of the lodge ...
Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala joyceanddave... very eclectic strange conversation topics. It's all good though, I don't expect to see any of those bus mates any time in the near future. We arrived late at night at a cabana that me and Kirsten had made a reservation for. It used to be the location of where the park rangers used to live and knew that it was very simple, but the most important thing was that it was cheap and had six beds in it. Sure enough, not an ounce of luxury, but ...
Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica jennyh64... palmtrees and i got quite concerned during this time wainting in the queue that i get hit by a coconut falling down (the time we were there was quite long so chances were high) but we were lucky)) The rest of the trip was ok, we had drove by the nice green countryside of Costa Rica which looked even more greener and more cleaner. Less trash on the side of the roads. The road acually follows the peak of some hills so as closer ...
