      ... miss things. One can only have so much pasta and cheese! I was conversing with the owners like a native. (in mandarin) I don't know what I ordered but they must have made a special effort because the food was surprisingly good. Another thing grabbed me with the irony of it all. I had bought a drink at a deli and the cashier was a chinese girl. We communicated in broken Italian, go figure.

      ... Fi trundles back from the Uffizi and had enjoyed it for a €6.50 entry so I join the line with many others. I have a look around but I just don't enjoy it. I like painting and taking art classes but not staring at them all.

      The temperature doesn't seem to drop at all so we don't sleep a wink. I try to sleep on the floor with my face squished on the cooler tiles but to no avail. Bring on accommodation with air ...

      ... and walked the white gravel paths lined with high manicured hedges. More statues, steps and colourful flowers led us to the top where a parterre garden of tiny hedges and roses took pride of place. Up here too was a large conservatory in which was displayed magnificent ceramics – Meissen, Sevres, just two of a varied selection of plates, bowls, full dinner services, vases and figurines.       ... unfinished Michaelangelo sculptures, which just drive home the fact that they are chiseled from one huge hunk of marble! Our day ended rather early which is allowing us much needed laundry time! And tonight we "get" to sit down and prepare to pay bills - not exactly something fun, but a necessary part of life, even we you're not home.
