... After lunch the 5 of us went for a boat ride around Lake Garda which was beautiful. The captain even let each of the boys have a turn steering the boat which they thought was pretty cool. We were then going to go and have a look through a castle but it closed at 1pm! We didn't realize this and got there at 1.30pm. Oh well! ... When it turned up, it was a nearly new catamaran
almost as quick as the fast cat from the day before. Arriving back
in Sirmione, the weather soon began to brighten up and it turned into
a lovely day again. We took our time looking in the shops and
stopping for a couple of beers in a tiny bar. Jayne bought me a
magnificent Fossil watch in one of the shops. We walked from one end
of the town and back again, taking in ...
... We looked at a few menu boards but were not really impressed
either way, being surrounded by tourists all trying to savour the
same atmosphere. We walked along a side street and immediately found
a much more attractive little restaurant, obviously a family run
affair with just the feel we were looking for. The food was
excellent – seafood pasta for me and rabbit tagliatelli for Jayne.
The evening stroll back to the hotel worked off our meal.
... final hour of riding took us to Sirmione at the southern end of Lake
Garda. Our hotel proved very comfortable with a lake view of sorts
and good facilities. The walk into the town was slightly longer than
expected but mostly along the lake front which made it pleasant. Our
evening meal at a nearby pizza restaurant proved to be a good
recommendation by the hotel staff. The food was very good and the
restaurant deservedly popular with the locals. ...

Tea was had with the Belgium v Algeria match for company (I have started reading The God Delusion by Dawkings so that helped)
THEN, the unexpected happened, a cloudburst leading to rivers in the streets, drains being overloaded, people rushing into the bars for protection (and drinks), scooter riders, joggers and cyclists ...
