... small speedboats, water taxis, ambulances, police, fire etc etc all jostling with no apparent "rules of the water" This often lead to horns honking and lots of shouting in Italian.

However after that busy spell we stopped off at St Mark’s Square which IS impressive with all of the buildings, churches (120 in Venice in total) cafes and museums. As we are not museum geeks and the queues seemed to be long although moved fairly fast, we simply soaked it in and explored ...

Unusual for us, but we did a lot of shopping in the Venice airport. There was a great murano glass shop and we bought matching glass Christmas trees - they were just too adorable to pass up! And C bought a book of photographs from Venice. Then, we boarded our short flight to Munich.

Arrivederci Italia! Until we meet again!

... it was cooling down a bit, I headed out to get some dinner, with a plan to tour the Jewish Ghetto at dusk. On my way, a waiter convinced me to eat at his outdoor bistro by the church that houses the remains of St Lucy. He and his colleagues were very entertaining. I had a nice meal starting with an antipasti platter of dried ham and melon (which surprisingly works well together!), gnocchi in a tomato ragu, and tiramisu for dessert. Then ...

... cheap nutritional lunch. Not sure if what we ended up was nutritional but it sure was cheap and pretty yummy. We bought bread, cheese, mayo and salami and made sandwiches. That night we had a few drinks and played "socials" with some Canadian's, it was pretty much kings cup but a worse version that didn't make as much sense as ours.

Venice was lovely and great part of the trip, we saw so many exciting new things and the whole place just had so much serenity.
