... walked away from that one. It was at least 500 feet from the trail to where the jeep crashed onto the valley floor. There should be a pic of it below. The trip back was a stressful one. The jeep was surging and idling poorly, but in the end it made it. I will reward her with a proper tune up and oil change next chance that I get. Other that the poor idle and surging, she climbed that mountain like a billy goat. I ...

... there we drove to the Rocky Mountain National Park. We didn't have any specific plans, and the ranger at the visitor's center suggested we drive all the way through the park rather than around it. She seemed to be happy the road was open the entire way, so we took her advice.

So instead we took a drive to Gothic Natural Area north of Crested ...

... Pass as we headed to Buena Vista. We plan to meet Randy Peters and his wife Dori. Randy is a friend of mine who I worked with for many years at John Deere. Randy retired in 2009 and moved to his dream house in the mountains in Buena Vista. It should be a good visit. While traveling through the pass, Sheila and I stopped to have a bit of a snowball fight.

    Happy Trails,

... snow views in a snowstorm - spectacular!!! This is the "Top of the Rockies", for Colorado anyway.

Then descended the other side, to Aspen. Elegant ski town, reminded us of Park City in Utah and Noosa in Qld. A guy we talked to told us the billionaires had pushed the millionaires out of Aspen!

After a walk around, drove up a beautiful red sandstone canyon to Ruedi Resevoir, outside Basalt. Lovely camp fire and great spot, so ...
