      ... to Aspen. We flew from Vegas to Denver and then caught the Colorado Mountain express to Aspen. We left at 5am in the morning and arrived in Aspen at 6:30pm after we had to change buses because ours was having engine trouble. We are definitely not having much luck on the bus side of things this trip.

      ... down ultimately missing the podium and finishing 4th. The very pro-American crowd went crazy as their favourite son, Ted Ligety, skied the perfect second leg to take the win. You have to say that Ligety owns this hill when it comes to Giant Slalom as it was his 5th successive win here on the World Cup circuit.       ... the tricky Super G course with an error free run and was the fastest on the day. Given that he had spinal surgery in February this year for a herniated disc, it was quite a comeback and he was emotional on the winner's podium. After 3 consecutive victories Kjetil Jansrud from Norway was not disappointed with 2nd and one of my favourites Frenchman Alexis Pintaurault 3rd.       ... that there are opportunities to mingle with the athletes themselves. On our bus back to the village at the end of the day was the bronze medallist, Steve Nyman from the USA. Just sitting on the seat next to us as we travelled down. He was more than happy to have his photo taken and he was on a real high after his success today.

      ... of very nice and expensive restaurants but not too many casual eating establishments. The Coyote Cafe is a stones throw from the Centennial lift at the base of the mountain. Mexican/burger standards along with an impressive array of beers. The service is quick and efficient. In the background you see a continuous reel of videos of extreme skiing. They are interesting to watch but make me feel rather inadequate as a skier! We have had dinner the last two nights at ...
