Hotel Molendal Arnhem

De schumibruder zijn bij elkaar gekomen om de laatste puntjes op i te zetten.
Vanuit het Digitale Dorp Sambeek vertrekken we maandagmiddag (few, toch nog uitslapen maandag) naar schiphol.

De eerste tussenstop zal dan tussen de Udon noodles en de Sushi van Tokyo zijn.

Nu eerst nog zeker zijn dat de blog gaat werken, dus als je tot hier komt dan is dat alvast gelukt.

... een enorme stapel boeken klaar, en als m'n rugzak straks door de röntgen gaat, gaat in LA waarschijnlijk het bomalarm af. Zoveel draadjes hebben ze nog nooit gezien! Opladers voor telefoon, camera, camera 2, videocamera, mp3 en scheerapparaat, en dan ook nog eens draadjes om het gros van die gevallen aan een pc te verbinden. Want op al die eilandjes zeggen bijna alle hotels dat ze over internet beschikken. Maar ja ...

... to be around that time, I wasn't able to book a hostel for just a few days, so I had to book for 11 days in a row. Gives me at least some time to get a good impression of the city (I hope). Maybe I'll even go visit some musicals, like Mamma Mia and Wicked. :-)

This is a pretty early entry, there are still 2 months to go, but I just wanted to start my blog already. What if in two months time this name would've been taken.. disaster! :)

Anyway, I'll try to keep everybody informed with this blog.

... coffee in one farmhouse. They milked a wooden cow, used a mangle, sat on a tractor and drove a fibreglass horse and cart. They negotiated a maze and tried out the playground. At this point the wet weather we'd left behind started to catch up with us so we caught the circular tram (at a gnome-infested station) that took us back to the entrance. We'd spent five hours there and not seen it all. I was pretty tired, let alone the kids.

... Rhine Canal. This canal connects Amsterdam to the lower Rhine River, where Arnhem is located. What a wonderful night sleep due to the constant motion! ... During the time it took us it rained 15 times, hailed 6 or 7, and both of our umbrellas broke. My umbrella bent in half on the middle stem part. It seems we showed up for a freak storm. The wind speeds were 60 mph off the sea and all the citizens had been warned to stay inside for the weekend. WEll, today I am going to Utrecht where my cousin Eveline lives and studies! But first, I am travelling to the Enkhuizen Zuiderzee (South Sea) Museum - an interesting museum about the places in Holland near the South Sea - fishing villages etc: Urk, Volendam, Enkhuizen etc etc etc. They had information about the cargo on the boats, huge boats inside the building (!) and information on the dykes, old fishing stories, paintings ...

... ik voor het eerst aanschuiven bij een Thanksgiving-dinner. Vlieg ik voor het eerst over de Grote Oceaan. En zet ik voor het eerst voet in Nieuw Zeeland. Allemaal niet te geloven...
Oh en dan het goede nieuws van de week: Willem is vader geworden van een dochter!! Een lief klein meisje, nu nog zonder naam, omdat je daar in Nieuw Zeeland 6 weken (met een uitloop tot een jaar) over nadenken mag! Bijzonder he??

Zo dan! Maandag heb ik bij Obelink ingekocht: een paar wandelschoenen en een nieuwe rugzak. Jippie!! :D De schoenen zijn dus inderdaad de Colorado Lady geworden; ik moet ze nog even inlopen, maar ben al helemaal verliefd.
En dan de rugzak... Ik ging passen en kwam er toen achter hoe een rugzak echt zitten moet. Het model dat ik nu gekocht heb, zit als gegoten en lijkt me echt ideaal. In principe is het een ...
