... hill to the Volta Lighthouse. If it wasn't for the foggy view we would have had a great panoramic view of Lake Como and it's surrounds.
After walking back down to Como we caught the bus out to Belaggio which is at the furthest point on the lake. Town was completely dead. a couple of cafes and post card shops open and that was it!

... he's only 3, I didn't take it personal or anything, but it's exhausting, even when I'm done working, I can't go home, I'm still with them. It makes me realize I am so not ready to be a mom! The next few days were tense and uncomfortable, so I decided to take a day trip. I chose Bergamo because it was close and Luisa said it was beautiful. On the way there I realized I didn't have as much time as I thought, so I played with the idea ...
Bergamo, Lombardy, Italy alliemarie... but it was nice to be able to relax and have a quiet walk around the villages. I needed to take a lot of ferries as this is the quickest way to get between each town as they are all placed at different points around the lake. A very nice place that I would love to visit again in the Summertime.
Next stop is Venice, Italy!
... quaint with beautiful villas. We walked the gardens of the Melza Villa. The canons in the photos are not toys....they are from the Napoleonic period...used to defeat Milan. The keys are to the city of Milan from the 1700's.
The food here is terrific. We travel back to Milan tomorrow to pick up our friends and head to the villa in Montanione. Forecast is for thunderstorms...yeah!

... near the airport. Because we changed the plans the hotel put us in another room... a suite. They were nice enough not to charge us the usuall price for this magnificent space. Although we have to wake up at 5am, we will sleep in this luxurious suite.
Looking foward to being home and seeing our friends and family. Love, Laura
... The balcony where Romeo and Juliet declare their love is a magnet to tourists and they allow people to write and pin love notes to the wall which are cleared every three months so the process can start again.
The relevance of Como for me ended up being from my childhood when Dad subscribed to a weekly series called the History of World War 2. I couldn't wait for each series to arrive and I remember one story of how ...
... set off back to the campsite. It is dark now and none of our bikes have lights. No worriesh Duncan has brought our torch. Sadly it is useless as somehow the switch has flicked and the battery run flat! We make our way back on the cycle path with only moonlight and the sporadic street light to guide us home. There are a couple of completely dark bits but we all find this a magical end to a lovely evening
... sidewalk cafes lining the piazzas, and sparkling lake nestled between two lush mountains make it a dazzling city. We really didn't do much other than sit outside in piazzas and terraces watching the world go by while we ate delicious food. And I love the Italian language. It is so enchanting. I was tempted to ditch my life in Basel and move to Lugano so I could give up learning German and switch to a much more delightful sounding language ...

Lecco, Italy wandergal... respected that they did not try to lecture me at all about breaking the speed limit by 25km/h either. After swiping my credit card and giving me the receipt the policeman warmly wished me a good journey and gave me two tins of lollies to take with me. Despite the fact they were by far the most expensive sweets I’ve ever bought, they tasted very nice.
Once past Disentis/Mustér we turned south, and the place names and changes in architecture immediately proclaimed ...
