... to see the town a bit more. Then I follow a road which I assume will take me up the gorge, when it takes a turn in the wrong direction, I assume it's just a switchback, and I opt for a shortcut straight up the mountainside. I climb higher... higher... higher... but the road doesn't reappear. I know it was just planted here for the warm months, but seeing a banana tree in someone's yard just feels really unappropriate. C'mon folks, this is the ...

Day 274 3 hrs, 3 kms In the morning I go to check out the waterfall again. Not a very big waterfall--but a nice way to start out my morning. On the rocky shore of the river a group of young folks are camping out. Nice to see a few other folks enjoying the pleasure of sleeping out of doors (although admittedly my real motive is stinginess--not a love for sleeping under the stars!) It sound like there's a much higher waterfall up a bend in a slit like gorge--but I ...

... who work in the financial sector from Belgium and I had a long chat about "breaking free from the system" and if it's really possible to have a successful career and yet be "free" in our minds... Then there were a couple of German girls who schooled me on North German culture. When they asked me what I knew about north Germany I said "uh... Hamburg?" "No, no!" they replied, mildly offended "there's ...
