    We travelled by train from Avignon to Lyon, just over an hour. Heard that our back shed did not survive the storm very large tree on top of it. Walked around the town. Saw a silk workshop, all still done by hand and watched them silk screen the colours on, beautiful scarves etc.

    There is not getting around it - it is impossible to come to France and not try the wares!
    Once, twice, thrice...
    Let's just accept the fact that after visiting, Lille, Amiens and now 4 days in Lyon, there have been a few visits to the local boulangeries.
    in fact it was not always our fault - some of them literally would not let us pass by their windows.

    Such a lovely morning that we delay setting off and have a potter around Besancon. It is a really charming town and we will definitely come back again. We do discuss idea of staying for a week now but in the end decide to continue south to be sure of hotter weather. South to Lyon, another Mercure chain ...

    ... do). Just when we thought we were done, dessert came out (after midnight!). Chocolate mousse cake, Estelle’s homemade chocolate mousse, and more…it was all good, but again so filling!

    It was fun to live the “wining and dining” element of the French culture today. It is obviously a very big part of life here, they know how to do it right, and it was an amazing experience to be a part of it!
