Matt and I headed off to the Koelner Zoo on the metro. It was lovely: very green, glass exclosures. There was a big family of elephants (about 16), 3 hippos who were having fun in the water and making loud noises and showing off their large teeth. Matt loved the orangatangs (the babies were playing) and the cheetahs (who were prowling up and down). A flock of flaming pink flamingo's and long legged ducks.

Karen was showing some of the German kids how to feed the horses and cows grass while their parents stood back and watched, obviously not prepared to get their hands dirty and slobbered on as she ...

We've got free Wifi (a bit flaky) to keep us company tonight, so this missive may well get dispatched promptly. Spa will be remembered for the noise - fire engines, ambulances, and police cars all racing about. We never did find out what was going on. Mileage: ...
