Going loco.....

We spent a night in Acapulco. Not a bad spot at all really. Beaches weren't bad and there was a very laid back feel. A very busy city beyond the beaches though, traffic crazy, lots of skyscraping hotels and nightlife once it gets dark. Most of their taxis are cool little volkswagon beetles. We went to see the cliff divers, pretty amazing, diving from great heights into small amounts of water....all in very tight pants. Quite the celabrities! Most of the holiday makers seemed to be Mexicans an...

Rest and Relaxation

... on the bus, this is where Angie decides that she’s going to outdo the old people and slips on her ankle and 'almost’ falls off the stool (and the bus). She lands-up getting a fairly swollen ankle (and didn’t tell me till later) but was OK.

We arrive at the resort and are told we have full rein of the pools and also get a lunch. We have 4.5 hours here to relax, and we take EVERY SINGLE minute of it.

... were a total of 8 divers. In this group of divers the youngest
was 14 and the oldest was in his 50's.
Wow what a way to make a living,
Then back to the ship to cast off at 6pm.
The weather was hot and humid about 92 degrees.
A nice refreshing dip in the pool was a great way to cool off.

... br>The history of Acapulco (per the tour book), is a city of about 700,000 people. This became
a major port back in the 1500's due to the arrival of Hernan Cortez,
which at that time many treasures were shipped to Mexico City and on to Spain. After World War 2 this became a favorite
vacation spot.More to come!

... people but I only walked the streets passing empty bars with employers looking more bored than me.
Sunday I had accepted my fate and enjoyed my breakfast (cocktails and shrimp cocktails) by the beach. I went to see the few sight there is to see; the high cliff divers and the fortress. Luckily it started to rain so I had a good excuse to spend the evening in my room. But I already had an even better excuse because I had been ...

Acapulco - Still Number One?

... are some of the reasons: its stunning location on Acapulco Bay, its wide golden sand beaches, the hot weather, the omnipresent palm trees, the appealing architecture of the hotels lining the bay, the maleçon which for the most part turns into a sidewalk, its "centro historico", its chic shopping, its big city feel, its lively collection of night clubs and restaurants and the high mountains surrounding the city.

So visually, Acapulco is appealing and ...

... cliff divers jump from everyday at 1.00pm. They also do evening shows, but we only had the day there. It was fantastic, but so scary for me to watch, I was convinced they were going to fall and hits themselves on the cliffs. It really was amazing. It was so hot standing there watching them though, if you ever go, take suncream! We had another stressful day as we found out early in the day ...

... are my favorite animals. I hope to have a pet bat, one day. Renting a safe, we meet Pedro, the reception manager, who will be our guide for the coming days. He tells us where to go for an internet café and to book diving. There is an additional beach 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Afterwards, we enjoy our terrace, where we eat the food, we brought from the supermarket earlier.
