... oldest amphitheater in the world. Before all the ones we have seen so far! We also saw the minotaurs labyrinth. We never knew that the maze actually was the palace. It was a complicated layout! ... We ate snails yes snails prepared two different ways. We had stuffed zucchini blossoms that Theda has asked about for over eight years. I of course had draft beer that is great in the Crete heat. There was a melted cheese dish that made the Baltimore saganaki seem bland. We did not drink raki last night but did the night before----sort of a grappa moonshine hybrid.

... the interesting parts and the stories. So it was nice to go there but not mind blowing. ... elementary school a wedding reception was borrowing the play ground for a party later in the evening; All throughout our meal the sound system was being checked by playing traditional Greek music. ... at night, the air was filled not with the sounds of commerce and groups of tourists, but with the authentic cacophony of Greek locals sitting around outside, making conversation as the day draws down. Kids, too. Kids in Greece stay out late. Surprisingly late. The result of a dearth of electronics and limited cable/internet I'm sure.

The couple next to me is now arguing about Santorini.
