ok, it was more "collecting a new country" than being really interested in Monaco. Strange, when you go there from Nice airport by bus it costs you 18 € one way, when you go from Nice bus terminal it costs 1 € one way. Monaco is a very clean city. I have never seen so many big and expensive cars. I saw the casino and the castle. Nice, but not spectacular.
Monaco, Monaco tilmanI know I always write the same...great weather, such a nice city, good food....but I have to say that Nice was a (very) big surprise for me, I can say that it is my favourite city in Europe (ok, number 2 after Lisbon). You have the mountains, the Cote dŽAzur (when you see the water you know why the name is Cote dŽAzur), the market with fresh vegetables, fruits, honey, oil, soap, you have great restaurants ...
Nice, Provence, France tilman... upon me it feels very strange and somewhat daunting. But to my knowledge no one has ever died from teaching children so I am sure I will survive.... My Amazon book order should arrive soon to inspire me. I am really looking forward to discovering the 100 things you can do with a paper plate. Life is never going to be the same!!
More when I start travelling...
Keeping Clean... the shower offensive Scooby is only the size of a delivery van... 4.8m Long and 2.3m Wide... fits snuggly into a shopping car park space. Height is not an issue as he is 2.6m tall so plenty of room for us shorties! The point is that space on the inside is at a premium, so the shower is "cosy"... but it does the job. Best of all we have a gas water boiler so the water is HOT HOT HOT!! We need to fill up our water tank every few days as there is only enough ...
Les Arcs sur Argens, Provence, France darrenhough74... weather back home in Melbourne and looked forward to a top of 18 one of the days whilst staying at the hotel and crossed fingers to hopefully get enough sun to enjoy the pool at our shmance hotel. We were very excited for an ensuite AND a double bed AND one doona AND maybe a bath.... Such luxury!!!
On the friday before our hotel stay, which we had decided would be chill time primarily, we decided to try and get some official sight-seeing time in and ventured out on day trip to ...
... problem with the free Wifi they had required an italian sim card..grr! So we headed into town, hoping to alight upon an internet cafe. Did I mention we came into the back of Turin, in the not nicest area? We saw a shop that said Internet point..it indeed did not have internets..grr..he gave us directions to the nearest internet cafe. As we contemplated the broken english and not so accurate directions, we walked into the vodaphone store and asked for an italian sim card. The card ...
Nice, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France jasndan... and we had good chats. Only her Mum and sister spoke english, so there was a bit of translating going on. I sat so I could see the bay and all of Nice, it looked perfect. We had lots of great food, including genuine ratatouiee and baguette lol, with some wine.
I spent the afternoon by the pool, a wet edge number that looked out over Nice. Wallpost's sister thought it best to bust out some more wine, which was a good choice. Her friend Audrie ...
... in front of the reigning Grimaldi families' church, St Nicholas Cathedral, consecrated in 1875. Monaco was on the tailend of celebrating the April anniversary of the wedding between their Prince Rainier & Princess Grace from the USA, while we were there.....which leads me to describe the sombre atmosphere as we walked around the inside of the lovely church (photos attached), until we came upon the tombstones of both the Prince & the ...
Nice, France oz09... name and all the Americans, it was fun - live music and reasonably priced drinks. Today I've been walking around Nice, enjoying the incredible weather, while Nina is dealing with the logistics of the rest of her trip since she's decided to travel by herself for an extra week. Tonight we head to Barcelona on an overnight train. The total trip time is about 15 hours...ugh. We'll give one last update at some point during our time in Spain. Until then...au revoir!!!
Nice, Provence, France meg926... The colourful Murals in the station were really something. I think it was made out of small colourful bit of tiles pasted together on the walls. Walking to the beach at Cannes, through Rue d'Antibes, a shoppers galore...... Dint have the courage to enter any store.. I mean.. With a slightly dirty backpack and fake diesel shoes from Thailand, I don't think any designer boutique would have thought that I could afford a 600 $ bikini... The ...
