The decision in the morning was to visit the Medieval walled city of Piran in the morning, search out a beach for the boys in the afternoon, and spend the evening on the sea wall near the apartment. Piran is only a short distance from where we spent the night, but it is a restricted area so only residences and local buses are allowed past the gates. It was decided to drive the mini-bus to the lot just outside the gates and take the free shuttle ...

... the hilltops. Then we rounded the last turn and there was the parking lot full of tour buses that had come up the other road. Oh, and the castle sitting in the mouth of a cave as the guide book had said it would. It was spectacular, and required that many photos be taken even before we got into it.

... heavily fortified. I can imagine a maze of tunnels and passageways in the caves behind the castle. It would have been difficult for any enemy to invade the place.

The next stop was the Skocjan Caves. Although it is not as famous as the Postojna Caves, reviews from the internet claims that the Skocjan Caves were less touristy and were in fact a better option to see. I was not disappointed. The ...

... emptied all the cupboards on the starboard side as we tried to trace where the cable went. Finally at 6pm we had traced it so time for a drink and replace the cable on Saturday. Cables all sorted we stow away everything once again, have a deck scrub, launch the dinghy and we are ready to go when our guests, Alison and Scott arrive at 4pm. Let the fun ...
