... stayed - "The Heart of Cinque Terre" - did just that. Because we had to hike to get there, we left the crowds of tourists in the main towns in Cinque Terre behind. We enjoyed leisurely dinners watching the sun set over the Mediterranean. We cooked pasta with pesto. We made espresso and soaked in the beautiful morning views of sparkling water. We watched a thunderstorm roll in (hooray for a brief reprieve from ...

... which was recommended by several people, we had to book because it is so popular with the locals. They don't have a menu but read out about five things for each course that were fresh that day at the market. Many of the things were unusual such as veal with tuna sauce and everyone was happy with their choices. But my spaghetti with white anchovies sauce wasn't as good as last night's spaghetti. With several carafes of good red and white wine the bill was only €20 a head so good ...

... Had our last meal together, I had grilled octopus not as good as we had had in Spain, should stuck to seafood pasta. All had tiramisu, once again not up to standard. Finished bottles of wine in our apartment and said our goodbyes, Bacis off to Nice tomorrow and then on to Uzes. It has been good being together over here and hopefully will repeat the experience at a later ...
