As it rained heavily overnight we thought we'd spend the day riding gondolas and trains. We headed up to Murren which is on the ridge to the west of us. Lauterbrunnen is in a narrow, deep valley with vertical cliffs on either side running roughly north/south. On the east side is Wengen and Kleine Scheidegg, and the three mountains Eiger (ogre), Monche (Monk) and Jungfrau (young woman). So Murren overlooks the Lauterbrunnen valley ...

LAUTERBRUNNEN Today we ate breakfast and then headed off to the train station for our trip to the Jungfrau mountain! I got to look after the group ticket voucher because ash deemed me to be 'the responsible one' cos I don't drink. Haha. It was a 2 hour train trip from where we were staying but all of it uphill and very picturesque. We changed trains around halfway and caught the jungfraubahn which tunnelled through the mountain and was very impressive! ...

... traffic was heavy and the light soon became flat as we entered the clouds. The Hundschopf was most notable for the fact that JJ tried to lean on his bent ski pole as he came to a stop and it broke, so he skied the rest of the day with one and a half ploes. We found some more jumps and bumps off to the side as the run flattens into the gliding section so we looped around the Bumps T-bar to run the section again.
