      We got into Lucerne late afternoon and after a quick navigational tour of the town and some free time to explore on our own we were off to what would have to be the worst night out of this tour. If you have ever been to a Swiss yodeling night you will know what I mean. All the band players were ancient and showed no enthusiasm when playing their instruments from the piano accordion or the cow bells or the water bottles the whole thing was just bloody woeful.       ... kms long. I was getting a bit spooked at the thought of being stuck in there, with accidents etc., but we noticed exits and Sasher assured me there would be service tunnels!

      Initially, it was mountains with green pastures going up very high, then rolling green fields. We had to stop at a petrol station just over the border to buy a vignette (road tax) for Cesare for our time in Switzerland. This cost 34,50 euros vs Austrian 8,50 - not sure if that means no more tolls ...

      ... the middle of summer, and we found out later that the cable car only operates for about eight months of the year because the amount of snow! Thankfully because the whole thing was so new there were hardly any people there and we basically had the place to ourselves. We had plenty of time before our return so we had an early lunch while waiting and when our turn came we reversed the journey down to the base again.
