... Cannot reach light unless get out of bed. Not getting out of bed. Tuck sheets in extra firm. Bathroom light? Cannot reach either. Torch? a) not bright enough to make them scarper & b) out of reach in bag on other side of room. Water, if only I had water gun, works on cats, probably rats. No rats live in sewer, not scared of water. Plus no water gun. Jump on bed. Yes.Make noise by jumping. Scare them. Jumping finished. No ...
Pulau Kapas, Terengganu, Malaysia lisaknott... the other beach around the corner. Check out my previous blog in 2008 ) This place is just so big and over run with guests that it's like boot camp when it comes to ferry trips and snorkeling trips and just going to the end of a very long queue for one of your 3 meals. Also the rooms even though beautiful are set out apartment style and all connected by a veranda in blocks so every time an inconsiderate guest slams the door ...
Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu, Malaysia luvlifetravel... love a lot of Anna's friends and we had a blast going to Pulau Kapas. Well, to be more accurate we went to Pulau gem, which is a really small island adjacent to Pulau Kapas. We had a little BEATIFUL beach all to ourselves. On our beach there was an amazing rocky hill island that grew the most brilliantly colored green grass I have ever seen outside of Ireland. So, of ...

Terengganu, Malaysia desmond123... question, and thus 5 weeks of photos (about 700 of them) were lost to the sea. SO SUCKY (super NUL). But still, better than losing an arm or something. Anyways, that evening we dined with our Italian friends from Uncle Tan's, and the following day did some more (less fun) snorkeling. We boated off the island in the late afternoon, heading to Kota Baru, where we stayed the night (in the crappiest (le hotel le plus merdique mais moins cher) (but chepaest) hotel ever, complete ...
Tres joli ...
Kenyir Lake, Malaysia isax... border. Unfortunately we read enroute that the border is only open from 5am to 5pm (I never knew border crossing closed??!) so we had to stay 1 more night in a hole of a border town called Sungai Kolok - the adventures never cease! The hotel turned out to be a mix between Dusk Till Dawn mixed with Sin City with a crazy club incorporated into the hotel blaring out crazy techno at 200dB until the early hours ...
Perhentian Islands, Malaysia pipe... paradise' referred to the place before the influx of Euros in speedos - not that there's anything wrong with that. The place is very busy, though, and not really our scene. A brief discussion with Nate's potential dive instructor seals the deal - she is German and couldn't give a rats ass that I am standing there talking to her. So we checked out after 30 minutes and headed for plan D or E or whatever it is at this point. I think it's good to be flexible. With ...
Perhentian Besar, Malaysia hongkongclauses... one Form Two, seven Form Three, and two Form Four. According to the teachers, the classes are unbalanced because the school is only two years old and has yet to graduate an entering class. As for living, I will stay in the teachers' quarters at Imtiaz. The school is just across the road from the beach, and about five minutes' walk from Dungun town. There's not much detail yet, so it's mostly TBD. Now reading: Globalization and Its Discontents by Joseph Stiglitz
Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia greendolphin... real and fake, every company, every culture, every store, EVERYTHING!!! So yes, I admit it, I went for every comfort : Starbucks, smoothies, Hollywood movies (Mr & Mrs Smith, Episode 3, The Interpreter), shopping, sleeping ... and it felt great! This country fascinates me completely, as it has tought me a lesson about the possibility for creativity and integration. At the basis, Malaysia is a Muslim country and human rights records are not the best. Like many ...
