... answer our foolish questions. One day on the beach I left Katrine whilst I went for a swim. Whilst I was away, two guys came independently and sat on either side of her on the beach. She didn't know what they wanted but just kept looking over at her. When I came back they didn't move, which she thought weird if they wanted to rob her or anything. They revealed their intention, which was to have a ****, by showing her everything just before they came ...

Santa Fe

... a very warm senora, and the rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Tourists can enjoy tours offering snorkeling or island hopping, but we have been content staying put. The very small fishing village also offers markets with fresh fruit and fish, and all sorts of other amenities that tourists may seek out. Palms line the beach and the sunsets are spectacular. Pelicans ...

... in Porta La Cruz and find a Por Pesto. This is a small mini van that look like the Taxi´s in RSA, except with doors at the front and back, they are normally painted in bright colours and have the "usual" blacked out windows, curtains, a large hi-fi system with DVD and Screen powered by four or 5 - 6x9 (200Watt Pioneers) that when turned up with "Venezuelan techno tunes" blarring out seem to make the bus go faster. Good news was the bus left quickly ...

Mochima - the caribean beaches

... hicimos buceo y descansamos.

The Beach!

So we have been in this quite little beach town called Santa Fe for the past 3 days! It is a fishing village for the locals and a sleepy backpacker heaven for us. Every morning we are awoken by the lovely sound washing and rosters crowing and today was a added voice to the choir, a screaming baby! Now this is all at 6:00 am! Oh gosh, I thought this was a vacation!!! The day we arrived we headed as soon as we ...

This is more like it - nice towns and beaches

After a brief stopover in Puerto La Cruz for the night and a great steak might I add, we jumped on a local bus to Santa Fe which is in a national park on the coast. By now we had started to work out that if you want to visit anywhere in Venezuela that isn't piled high with rubbish you have to stick to the National Parks, sort of makes sense really! We arrived at the bus station around lunch time and had a bit of a dodgy walk through town to the beach, such a safe place! We found a ...

Farewell Venezuela

... isn't much to do and if you are going to get mugged or killed in Venezuela then Caracas is the place. But it meant that we had a bit of travelling to do and would be spending another night at an airport. It seemed silly to go to a hotel when we would need to be at the airport at 3am anyway, and when people warn of carjackings at night on the airport road. But we weren't too sure about how easy it was going to be to get back to Caracas because more than one person has told ...

... offering to take you in their speed boats to the nearby beaches and islands. I stayed in a beautiful posada right on the water´s edge, but I was the only one there. I wandered the street looking for people to talk to but there was nobody really...so I sat on the balcony, read and watched the sunset...and then wondered back into town for dinner. The next morning I met a young couple at breakfast (a French and Venezuelan), with whom I ended up sharing ...

The beach wasn´t quite as secluded as I had expected with chairs and covers lining the beachfront, we did pay though to take advantage of the shade - didn´t want to end up burnt again. The sea was clear blue and lovely and warm to swim in. As soon as we arrived our order for lunch was taken, the only thing we recognised on the menu was chicken but we wanted fish so took pot ...

Forever blowing bubbles

We arrived in a rough and tumble fishing village and to be honest, our expectations had been higher. We walked through the market area and onto the beach, the first place we happened upon was a place recommended by the LP, it looked to have a nice restaurant, was fairly basic but they had a room and it was cheap so we jumped at it. After a beer to celebrate arriving at the Carribean coast, we took a walk down the beach. The beach was narrow, and did not have the powdery soft ...
