Casual start to the morning with a croissant and coffee for breakfast, followed by 6 hours walking around Old Town Genoa. The sights around the upper end are much better than the port, we sat on the steps of a church for half an hour and did some people watching.

Huge thunderstorm came in and it poured with rain so we found ...

... 11.00 am and a short 100 m walk from the station and we are at Hotel Europa, undoubtedly the smallest lift I've ever been in. Off load the bags and walk down to Porto Vecchio for a stroll along the front.

A good day was had and we slept well in our cool ...

... of water. All of this of course in the usual Italian quality! Fantastic to be here and enjoy of all this. We walked to the station of Principe where we had a cappuccino and waited for Alberto who arrived in advance. It was great to see him again after two years. He took us for another walk to parts that we hadn't seen yet and went up with an ancient elevator of the last century that took us to a beautiful view point from which we had a great view of the town. Went we ...

... the beautiful harbour and the typical painted houses that are unique to this area. The gardens were blooming with roses and are neatly kept on the walk up and back to the castle. There are plenty of expensive shops to browse but we were off before being tempted to Santa Margherita. Again a lovely seaside town where we viewed the best inside of a church we have seen so far. It had lots of lovely fruit shops ...
