We have two full days here so we have to plan carefully. Today we looked for a place with good coffee called Cafe Antiguo but it doesn't exist. Thankfully around the corner we found Panini. A cafe with argentines having coffee.
We got 2 cortados dobles and 2 medialunas. $52 pesos

Walked down to the lake and sat on the rocks. The water is clear! It's beautiful. If we had cushions or chairs I would ...

      Don't cry for me, Argentina

It's been a crazy last 24 hours, pretty much caused and then fixed by a single Argentinian named Lucas. As a disclaimer, the hairiness has more to do with bus tickets than crazed murderers and weird people, so rest easy as you read the tale of how I went hiking and then almost didn't leave Argentina. Back when I was in Canada, I'd tried to arrange a kayaking trip in Bariloche. I hadn't heard anything back (they needed multiple people) and I figured the trip was off. I got myself psyched ...

Bariloche to Esquel was travelled all on Tarmac for the Campbell's and Carlisles which lead to the Museo Pategonia. Farnons and Balls headed to Butch Cassidy 's cabin via gravel roads. Early evening beers in a Restobar followed by a Spanish meal in down town Esquel.

... was in dense Forrest (bit of a Blair witch experience as I only came across 2 couples during the 3 hours) so you really are just trekking from viewpoint to viewpoint but I am delighted I did it and if anyone is in Bariloche for a couple of days I'd highly recommend it - though a sunny clear day is obviously the optimum conditions. 14.5km later & 3.11 hours with burning calves & screaming quads I managed to make it back to the bus stop. The bus system here ...

      Into Patagonia

... our tent, ground mats, sleeping bag and other road trip/camping essentials we got to Europcar only to be told that a Duster or Ford EcoSport wasn't available, only a Renault Kangoo was - the kind of car you see crawling along country roads on a Sunday afternoon. We'd heard from everyone that while the main road through Patagonia - Ruta 40 - was Tarmac in parts, there were also long sections where it was just gravel and rocks so, unless you wanted to risk it, a big sturdy car ...
