The start of the drive took us out of town and took us passed the stunning nahuel huapi lake to a small town call villa la angostura. We all needed the toilet so we pulled over and tried to find a cafe. We conveniently parked right out the front of a boutique chocolate store and stocked up on snacks for the road. ... nearly tipped forward but they came side on and a majority of the passengers flipped out. It was then all hands to the deck to try to rescue those overboard. We got 2 in our boat pretty quickly. Simon our safety kayaker as well as the other companies kayaker rescued the rest. Even though there are competitive companies on the river, there appears to be great solidarity between the rafters when it comes to rescuing those over board, every one just helps out. The ...

First impressions of Bariloche weren't all that promising - a slightly sketchy bus station, and a conversation (in Spanish, mind) with the most unhelpful and insolent tourist information woman ever. Our hopes of camping on the cheap were thwarted as the only open campsites were 13km out of town. Since the expensive (and slow) buses to get there and back all the time would have eaten up any saving anyway, we elected to go into town and find a hostel instead. After some ...
