A bit cooler and rainy this morning. Our last full day in this lovely town. We checked out the fishing fleet again when it arrived - mainly sardines and a few octopus. The guys work so hard taking the fish from huge vats and putting them in boxes, filling the boxes with ice and loading them into trucks. Apparently the fish are all trucked off to Italy for sale as Croatia only has a population of 4.1 million and Italy has 67 ...

We caught a boat over to an island called Sv. Andrija which is only about twenty minutes away. A stunning island with beautiful trees, mainly pines, and a nature trail running all around it and a huge hotel plonked in the middle of it, spoiling the landscape!

Back to the nice cafe by the water, and then walked up to the church at the top of the old town.

Had a beautiful fish platter for dinner. The restaurants are pretty quiet. It must be hard for the locals when the tourists leave.

It is such a beautiful little town. We feel we could stay here for a few ...

The fishing fleet came in this morning, followed by hundreds of gulls. We went down and the fishermen were unloading thousands of crates of sardines, packing them with ice, putting them into trucks and taking them away. They had a good production line going. The local ladies were turning up with plastic bags to buy some. There was a big storm last night so it ...

    ... I wasn’t expecting to see.

The group gathered outside the hotel at 09:00 and made the downhill walk to the transit bus, which took us to the bottom of the hill where Peter was waiting in our tour bus. After a drive of about two hours, our first stop that day was Pula, where we had a walking tour with a local guide named Marya. We covered the Roman Amphitheatre, underground section and several other significant historic sights ...
