... us turned on their car lights to reveal there is no possible chance of getting out. I guess only stupid people would contemplate it!

We head to Lake Soci and end up at Kamp Koren, Kobarid for 3 nights. Kobarid has the Soca River running through it and is in the Triglav National Park. But the views are stunning, photos do not do it justice, you can see to the bottom of deep pools where perch and trout loiter avoiding the fishermen further downstream. The waterfalls and rills of fast running water are mesmerising and we walk for about an hour then stop for the inevitable coffee and water back at the ticket office before coming back into town ...

... picturesque. Turquoise water surrounded by pine trees, with an island at one end with a small church, a castle on a bluff at the other end with another church with a spire. All ringed by Alps some of which still have remnants of snow. It really is a picture postcard, and the hotel has some stunning viewpoints, including from the 5th floor swimming pool, if only I had remembered our togs! After unpacking we cross the road to the lakeside ...
