By now, we are establishing a routine. Larry and Frank are usually up first. I follow soon after to find Larry who has found the best coffee shop. We usually have Greek coffee or capacino. Greeks have fabulous pastries. Spinach pies are my favorite but their sweet buns are also marvelous.

Hydra is a small Greek island about a 3 hour ferry ride from Athens. It is marked by rocky beaches and is known for only having two cars on the whole island: an ambulance and a garbage truck. (Knowing from personal experience, these are about the same thing)

The Monastery contains the tomb of Lazarus Koundouriotis, the richest sea captain on Hydra, who gave his entire fortune to support the Greek War of ...

... south of Athens. It was nearly 100 degrees Fahrenheit today. Very hot. The first thing I did when I got to the island was go for a swim. the water was warm and felt good. There is a bay in Hydra and then just around the corner from the bay, there is some rocks that you can jump off and swim. Not only was the swimming good here, but the other parts of the island were better tan Hydra and Poros. There was a mountain here, so ...

We couldn’t find a bakery open after dinner last night so we had to settle for a giant piece of baklava from a creperie. I am seriously thinking of cutting off a small piece just to try it out….I can’t have the Chief eating bad food! But I’ll wait. The baklava is big and tall and flaky. It is cut in a perfect right triangle shape It will ...
