Hydra is a small island just off the coast of the Peloponnese and our home for two nights. A 15 minute boat ride gets us into the quaint small town centred on the harbour. It seems typical of the Greek islands where the people live by the coast leaving the steep mountain sides to sheep goats and, in Hydra, mules. There are no cars on the island and everything is transported by mules - people, luggage, food, drink. ...

    13th July 2013 SALAMIS ISLAND….Kanaki Bay

We had a slow relaxed sail across to the island and also had a MOB (man overboard)drill on the way. ... turn the water pump on to provide adequate pressure. Water took about 10 minutes to heat up and then there was a good amount of water. Considering that the house is on a limited 500 liter water cistern and required refilling by the “water boat”, that arrived daily, at least once a day, because there is no fresh water on the island. The boat goes to Poros, fills up with water, and ...

... a load of laundry. After 2 days in Athens and 7 days in Porto Hydra, we had some dirty laundry. The wash machine her is very small compared to what we have at home. It is a front loader. This mornings clothes consisted of a half dozen pair of underwear, 2 pair of socks, 2 shirts and 1 pair of pants. The sun is making it’s way across the porch so the clothes shouldn’t take long to dry.
