    ... the Dutch and died on the slave ship (Middelburg had a thriving port at the time), and a number of shops we would have like to visit but shops here don’t open on Sunday until at least noon, if at all. On the way back we met Peter and Becky who were on their way to eat some lunch, but we decided to just eat some of the food we had in the room (bread we bought in Breda, olives, chips, cherries, and bottled water).

    ... came up to us with a questioning look—it seems that she is the present occupant of the house. She chatted for a while and gave the more recent history of the house—she has only been there a few years and there was an occupant before that who did some renovations on the house. It had apparently been in poor repair on the inside—she thought it might have been empty for some time before that.

    Back to the hotel as Monique is supposed to arrive about noon ...

    ... to stop about an hour later to "rest". This was a nice restaurant/rest stop next to a military base--we could see and hear the military helicopters carrying loads of "stuff" back and forth. Back on the highway but decided that we would stop and tour in the town of Breda.

    We had some difficulty entering the town as there is a lot of construction on the roads--but we finally found our way in and began looking for a place to park. No luck so we ...

    ... Dam in the scope of the project. We started our tour with a movie on the project and then were guided through a type of museum showing the details of the construction and finally we went out for a walk where we could see the dam up close—very impressive.

    ... John had to rebuild a window wiper switch and yet again the GPS. Within an hour we were at the Veere lock where fortunately we did not have long to wait as he told John he would open the small lock for us and the other 2 yachts that were following us. Once through we saw some moorings at Veere Marina but we had thought of going round to the town quay on Veerse Meer, so went to have a look, but it was far too exposed ...
