... That's probably not all that notable really, but a sort've clever play on words. And it adds words (of ********) to this blog. With a fair bit of strolling accomplished, we decided to start heading back to the apartment. Or at least in that general direction, because on the way we found another little pub along a canal to indulge in a refreshment. Mum's choice. Alco. She paid too though. Yay We also saw what appeared to be a festival a little further up the canal, and again ...

... on the train back to Amsterdam. When we got back, we discovered that the sun actually does exist in Amsterdam, and it was turning into a beautiful day. We decided to jump on a boat and do a canal cruise and take advantage of it. The cruise took us out into the harbour, and then we entered the canal system and wound our way through them. ... had facecloths which we all found both odd and inconvenient! The girls wanted to chill in the hotel room for a bit so Jamie and I had a little date across the street at Melly's Cookie Bar. Seriously....it's a cookie shop! Yummy! Don't worry....no funny stuff in these cookies! We had Carmel macchiatos and peanut butter cookies and a great chat! This evening we went on what we all think is the best thing we've done so ...

... my satnav was playing at.
The route it brought me into Ijmuiden was totally different from norm and seemed extremely strange. I approached some traffic lights with arrows on them telling me which way I MUST go!! Only after going along the road it told me did I realise what these lights were for. The whole dock and canal area enter the sea here via a few canal lock's and so if there is a ship moving into one of the lock's then the traffic lights will send you to the next gates which ...

... more than Paris, maybe it feels like it due to the smaller streets? The evening, being our last, was quite lovely, more time walking the canals (we are bad, we didn't do a boat tour, really appreciate the advice though!) and taking the city in. We found a wonderful restaurant and had one of the best meals of the trip, wild pheasant and sweet potato soup to start, venison cooked beautifully and fresh made parpadelle ...
