A beautiful day in Guanajuato and on to SMA

... his own seat, where he immediately fell asleep.

I loved the ride. It was comfortable, short (about an hour an a half) and scenic - and included a complimentary goodie bag of a breakfast bar and a bottle of flavoured water (no plain water available).

When I arrived at the bus station just outside of town at St Miguel de Allende, the taxi driver that was next in line, and therefore the one for me, had a tantrum when I indicated that I needed to find my ...

Not to mention the greasy and delicious tacos we scarfed at 6:30 that morning, right before starting our climb...dinner for (early) breakfast! As Ana would say, porque no?

We got back to GDL four days later; exhausted, dirty, and happy as churros rellenos.
Mexico at last

... what luck! Thus ensued almost three fascinating hours with my own personal guide. I was especially interested in her discourse about the early people and their (somewhat grizzly) customs and beliefs. Amongst many other things,I learned about their underlying world views regarding life and death, and how this translated into their rituals of sacrifice. I also found out more than I ever wanted to know about the exact nature of the ...

... and Tuesday I have culture class. I love it. The teacher knew I was new and didn't know much, so he was very animated. He knows some English. He was asking the class how to say these two words in English so I would understand (because he thought i didn't). Out of everyone (who were all on a higher lever) I knew both words. He was shocked. It was awesome. I pick up on the most random things.

(so they don't have to go to the dumpster)
- Also, the dump trucks don't have the arms on the front to pick up the dumpster, so the men have to climb in and scoop it out with a bucket. How Safe is Travel in Mexico?

... and search of person and luggage. It never lasted more than 15 minutes. On occasions like this I would think that it would be a good idea to get locks for our luggage, if for no other reason than to prevent someone from using us as "mules" in transporting drugs. It always remained an idea; I never did buy locks for our luggage. Speaking of buses stopping, Mexico must be world champion when it comes to having speed bumps, known as "topes ...

Home?

... quickly to the west of Mexico city then we can slow down again and relax as we make our way to Puerto Vallarta. Our second long day involves getting around Mexico city rather than through it which we are not willing to do at this stage in our trip. The city requires travel on specific days and specific routes according to license plate numbers. We try to avoid cities at the best of times unless absolutely necessary and this is definitely ...

... about 40 min) and I needed to buy some stuff for my design class and find some jeans. Anyhow ( sorry for my rambling- I'm tired ) Stavo canceled on me because he had to work (Cubamia-the salsa club) last minute. Apparently, Friday was some type of firefighter's day (maybe also in the US?). Because of this, they were using the club to stage a fake fire/rescue for the public. LUCKY FOR ME... since Stavo is the new manager of Cubamia- I got to ...

Aventuras de la semana pasada...

... 5 hour-long trip backed altogether in a 15-person van. Guess where Danielle sat?... in the very back in the middle. Normally, this would be a horrible trip- however I was magnanimously placed between a hot guy from Argentina and a hot guy from Spain. What a shame that was. I think I spent the entire trip debating in my head who was more attractive. ( I still have yet to decide ) After registering we were able to spend a very short amount of time in the main ...

Guanajuato-Detour #1 (or....I lost count already)

... The view from the restaurant was worth it by itself. Susie and I promised to stay here next time we are in this city. It's called the Quinta Real and the food was superb! I had some chicken foo foo plate stuffed with chicken in a chipotle sauce and Susie had Ravioli in a spicy marinara sauce. ¡TRES MAGNIFIQUE! If ever in Central Mexico you MUST visit this city. We left Zacatecas in the evening (after a 1.5 hour bus delay - for those ...
