My new church family

I am now apart of a church body. I have been there about 3 weeks. I love it. I am really great friends with the Pastor's son, and he has helped me abundanatly. He has introduced me to the other church people and shows me around town. He is awesome. He can speak English fluently, so when I need help he is my translator. He is so funny ...

New year, new house

... ones she was going to put in it was too ugly for me. She is so sweet. She is doing everything she can to help me. It is in a safe part of town, and is closer to downtown. Now it will take me about 10 min. to walk to church and school. =) I am SUPER excited. Can't wait to finally cook for myself again. =) I really miss it. Oh, and it is big enough that I can have the whole 20 people over from my SS class. =) So, that is all. DON'T WORRY. I am doing great, and I LOVE MEXICO.!!!!!!! =)

Shared my Testimony

... why. I told him I am a Christian, then he said he was too (but he believed you could have sex at 18, not based on the Bible) and I told him the Bible says not to until you are married and that is what I follow. He was shocked. He didn't believe me at first. So, I preceeded to tell him my testimony. He was shocked again, he couldn't believe I ever did those things, because I am so different now. It was awesome! God gave me all the words to say. I love God. This guy ...

A beautiful day in Guanajuato and on to SMA

... book so I could show him where I wanted to go (and negotiate the price). He flounced around to the back of his car and slammed the lid of the boot/trunk. How fiery of him! I called him back, showed him the address, and asked how much. He told me 40 pesos. I told him that mi amigo dice 30 pesos. He stuck to his guns at 40. I caved.

At the end of a ten minute taxi ride through cobbled, really NARROW roads, I turned up at the brown door in the red wall of ...

Mexico at last

... airport, about half way between Leon and Guanajuato.
The next day (Thursday, November 4) we drove into Leon, and I was treated to an expert walking tour of the city, including some of the many leather and shoe shops and the great market, as well as the manadory, very impressive cathedrals. In the afternoon, Daniel needed to attend to some business, so he dropped me at the new, very flash museum, which was featuring one display about the ...

La ciudad de Leon

... it back to their city where they would sell it for more and make a profit. I ended up only buying a tshirt.

That afternoon, they had plans with their small group. The guys went to do something guy like...and us girls went shopping and then out to a cafe for dinner and coffee. It was the coolest cafe...supposed to be like an Italian coffeeshop with sandwiches, crepes, and all sorts of gourmet drinks. I had little ...

Bienvenidos a Guanajuato!

... adequate space here for grave yards. The bodies are are buried in wall monuments- I don't know what it is called in English. They just call it "the wall" in Spanish. The families of the deceased will actually pay to have the bodies unsealed and checked for mummification. BOGUS! ... It is just a great honor to be one of the bodies which is preserved so well. El callejon del besos is another very well-known touristy place in the ...

The Road of Bones

... another 50 miles of dirt and 75 miles of pavement past Alfonsina's. So we gnawed some bananas and Gatorade for breakfast...and headed south. Arriving in Puertocitos around 8:30am...I'm glad we gassed up in San Felipe, because the PEMEX station was closed, and the town looked abandoned. Now for the fun part...the road less traveled! Immediately past the town, the road went to complete dirt...large construction vehicles were working to ...

... open square. It also included a private chapel which still has the ornate carving outside but now has a huge mural by Chavez Morado, one of the top painters. There was only one of the rooms that still contained the original painted walls inside but the stone carvings showed how sumptuous it was at one time. On again to the Theatre Juarez, built between 1873 and 1903, it was inaugurated by the dictator Porfirio Diaz, whose lavish tastes are shown in the plush ...

Leaving Leon...with a tear in my eye....

... Oh ho ho ho, it's like a cross between Hull fair and a rodeo, imagine that if you will! I went hyper one night (I've been four times!) and ate candy floss and toffee apples and went on a ride, woo hoo! I was a bit like small child though, all the excitement and sugar made me feel sick and I had to have a sit down! I've been to a party, which was really cool (or muy padre, as they say here). The boys were very nice, asking if I needed another ...
