    Open-water swim take two was a much better experience. In fact, it was one of our Mexican highlights. A few crewmembers recommended swimming directly outside the ship, as it is the calmest beach on the island. We immediately identified the location, Villa Blanca Beach, which with its buoys (pronounced 'boys' if you’re Australian or ‘boo-wees’ if you’re American), clear water and calm conditions made it perfect for a morning swim. ...

    ... a lot of time in the water. We sat patiently watching them go back and forward sideways for about 10 minutes and then Graham had enough, so we bashed and crashed our way through everyone and, as a positive gesture, even managed to get the sideways rafters heading in the right direction. By the time we got back to the end we were first and not another rather in sight. Go team Cotton!

    ... rain so our stay is longer than planned, tacos and guacamole it is then. Looking for what to order I notice that beer is cheaper than juice! Back on the coast we took the cycle lane - technically for push bikes but mopeds use them and it's quiet with trees either side. When we get to Playa Palancar beach I'm dying for a hot drink (I'm more English than I realised).     ... watched the 'Flight 666' documentary of Maiden's 2008 world tour. They're fascinated to find out my first visit to Mexico was on that very tour, along with Costa Rica, Colombia and Brazil.
