There are only 5 locks to go through today, although there are two doubles and they are all downstream which seems a bit easier. ... quite close together so the longest walk between locks is 1.5kms. Although I do have to step it out to stay ahead of the boat :). We succeed in our plan and have an almost clear run to the town of Castelnaudary (which, incidentally, is also the name of our penichette) and get through the 'staircase' of four locks before lunchtime :). Once everyone's settled in, we head out for a cooling ale just around the corner from the hotel, then it's back for a quick change and then out for dinner at Coco Sweet, the restaurant where we spent a few hours this afternoon. Had a lovely wine with dinner, the same as Rob and I had last night in Toulouse and the rest of the group also enjoyed it. ... night. Got back to accommodation close to 8pm and really enjoyed our casserole, potatoes and vegies. By the time we updated our diaries etc. using the free wifi it was time for bed. Must admit every single place so far has had free wifi.
Spotted what we thought must have been an otter outside on the pond. Herbert the cat, who in our care for the week was not keen to get to know us. Anyway great company and lovely evening.
