Vic, Zimbabwe nickmofry... lucky that our group was pretty small so we all got a lot of time to spend one-on-one with the lions. It was really amazing to be able to pet a lion as we strolled down the paths. At one point Chris was behind me when I was walking with Cosi, the male, in front of me and Canoe, the female, beside me. Chris told me to turn around for a photo and I looked back at him. He took so long to take the photo that I did not realize that Cosi had ...
Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe caralynOur first day with the new crew was a pretty tough one. We spent a long time at the Mozambique border and then straight to another Bush Camp. It was a pretty long drive day as well.

And that was it, our experience of Mozambique! Just a thoroughfare to Zimbabwe at a cost of US$60 for a transit visa. It was well worth it though as Zimbabwe was full of surprises.

On the way to our first awesome camp we drove through Harare (which is ...
Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe tandlittleman... and a man wrote their identity numbers and weights on their arms. We were a little nervous that the bungee cord would snap because we lied about our weight but decided to take our chances. After paying for the jump, we walked across the bridge to the jumping site. Several men tried to sell us the river god good luck charm, the nyaminyami, and told us we would need it to survive the jump. Our hearts were racing and we started getting really nervous. Instead of ...
Livingstone, Zambia kickthrough... credentials. Cool.

The the craziest thing happens. I plug in my computer just to see what will happen, just in case serendipity cares to smile and guess what? THE LIGHT COMES ON! Oh my God! This is huge! Of course my elation is short-lived when it goes off again a few hours later, but still this is better than nothing. Apparently there’s a short in the power supply, so desk usage is required, no more curling up with the box in bed and such ...
Livingstone, Zambia hardiek... the bridge completely or else we would have reached the Zimbabwean border post. The bridge is where they do the bungee jumping and the gorge swing. It was too early in the morning and therefore too cold for us to be that daring!

On our return to the jeep Neil gave Mike a small amount for looking after the jeep and got the notes included in the price. We then drove the short distance to the entrance of Victoria Falls car park ...
Livingstone, Zambia neilandchris... couples. But it turned out good because we invited the guys (driver and waiter) to join us eating and talking. From there we were whisked back to the boat with our wine and continued up the river. They took us to meet up with a big three level boat full of passengers that did not opt for the deluxe version. Get this, this boat was hanging out in the middle of the river waiting for us to be dropped off. So we pulled up, wine glasses in hand, where they helped us onto the boat and ...
Livingstone, Zambia hb2africa... music and a dance performance and we had toasts to celebrate my last day on the trip. I split of bottle of wine with Kate and it was perhaps the best wine I have ever tasted.

Overall the tour has been spectacular and I have enjoyed nearly every minute of it. Tomorrow I fly to Johannesburg, South Africa where I hope to visit the Apartheid Museum before heading off to my next destination....Taipei, Taiwan. Keep Reading and take care.
