      San Giovanni Rotondo

Eve of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe

It's appropriate that I write this blog from the home of the basilica dedicated to St. (Padre) Pio on this eve of the Feast of OLG as the basilica in Mexico City is the most visited basilica in Catholicism followed only by Padre Pio’s. To be honest, I’m not one driven by any need to visit the holiest ...

... in scenic destinations. Travelling along the cliff face with continued Italian enthusiasm we reached to seaside town of Vieste. Unfortunately the local police had closed the road for a car race. We used ...

This morning got off to a rocky start. We took a "shortcut" which looked extremely promising on the map, however, the dirt road gradually turned into a two track and then a sand path through a swamp which was infested with most of the world's mosquitoes. Who knew mosquitoes loved Italy too? Eventually we pushed the bikes through the soft sand for about a kilometer while fighting off and ingesting the mosquitoes ...

Spent the day catching up on some much deserved rest. Got some sun and finished reading my book, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings," by Maya Angelou. I only wish I had WIFI so I could communicate, it's been 3 days now. The ship offers WIFI but it costs $.75 per minute and an additional $4 to activate an account with them. I just keep hoping that we get access at the next port. I thought I should tell you a little about our ship. It is named the ...
