    ... has Charlemagne living here briefly, in 800AD, to establish the monastery, and reputedly marking out the hills with his buttocks. The walk around the village is the Pied de Charlemagne, literally, his footsteps.

    Finally, locals take kindly to our attempts at French, humouring us and filling in the gaps where even a Franglais word won't suffice.

    Just a few words about today, we had the typical lazy Sunday. Up not too early and a nice breakfast croissants fresh from the bakery on site. A bit of a sort out and down the pool for 1030hrs, unbroken sunshine for the next couple of hours meant we were in and out of the pool cooling off. Back for lunch, not a Sunday one but fresh bread with ham and salad, Mark, ...

    • Yes it is for so many reasons at so many levels
    • Lets start on getting the mast up the local robber wants 110 euros.
    • Or roughly four times what anyone else charged, in the next port they have quoted 35 euros still not cheap but within realistic expectations.

    ... makes me appreciate how much room we have in Australia, fabulous roads with heaps of room on the side of them. As I get more familiar and a on a nice day I'm sure I won't be stopped. Ooo look its another quaint little village and the first thing I spy is a church. I'd been told about the fete, that it was in the hall behind the church. No signage and no clue otherwise. I wander a little and take some pics of the church. Its hard to find much info about it. So ...

    ... to ourselves why would they have accommodation at the beach and not in town. Anyhow we drove the 20 odd kilometres to the beach and called in at the tourist office. We could not believe our luck the office was staffed with three people and all three were on the phones ringing around looking for accommodation for us.. After many knockbacks they located a room for 4 at a Hotel about 40 minutes drive further south. ...
