The island is actually remains of part of an old volcano and with a population of some 15,500, we were able to visit both main centres, Fira and then Oia. Truly this was a magical day and we came down from the cliff top via the chair lift that then enabled us to catch the tender boat back to the ship.

... blowing actually and unless you study, or have studied, Greek history and mythology it all gets a bit much. For me anyway. Already I can’t remember half the stuff I read (make that 99%). But a nice museum.
Went on a walking tour one morning and that was good. A bit of a change from wandering around by yourself and reading everything. Probably got to see some places I may not have found by myself too.
Parts of Athens are quite bohemian. ...
... an hour so we were invited to go upstairs and have a complimentary coffee or tea and cookies for an hour. We had a cuppa and then headed out for lunch down the lane. Very close we saw a nice looking place and a delicious dinner tray through the window that invited us in. Picture says it all - a shared platter €15 and absolutely delicious and tasty, tender and juicy. Nom nom.
Back to the hotel feeling very content we went to our room ...
... You could see various artwork carved in the marble. The intricate artwork evokes how important beauty was to the ancient Greeks. From the top of the Acropolis not only do you see the city but you can also see several other monuments like the Temple of Zeus, Thissio, Panathinkaiko Stadium (which housed the first Olympic games), and more. We decided to ditch our tour guide and tour the Acropolis on our own, ...
