Ode to the ferry fairy

... engine room. There is a very dingy area below deck where the one meal of passage is served…luckily we still had a package of biscuits. Water ran out after a couple of hours….

ETA (estifmated time of arrival):
The ferry is scheduled to take 17hours. We ended up being on board for 23 hours - from boarding to departure. Three of these hours being spent squeezed between hundreds of sweating people trying to push through the exit ...

Getting wet in Corfu

... Greek wine and their local Ouzo. I ate Pastitsia, a pie with layers of pasta and meat but I kept eating Stee's dinner of this fish cooked in peppers and onions. Vance doesn't do fish so he had a harder time with the menu options. Everyone was in a great mood so we ended up just sitting and talking and laughing and drinking and eating for quite awhile.

... tastic. Truly, it's been great.

When I arrived in my room I had a momentary hiccup where I just was so sad. I hadn't really missed Larry or felt home sick too much during the trip, but for some reason, on the cruise, in the room by myself, I just broke down. BUT. I told myself, "Josie, you are here and you're alone. But you're here." From that point on it was, pardon -- or don't, the pun, smoooooth sailing.

I had a FABULOUS welcome treat in my room in the form ...

Much arm waving and untranslatable obscenities did nothing to deter this donkey from his mission. Between tourists he would attempt to wipe Ryan and Chris from his back by rubbing against every telephone pole. From several zig zags up the hill all Robyn could ...

The Boat to Italy

We had a whole day of just hanging around Corfu town so we went for some breakfast and then picked up our laundry and popped back to the hotel to pack our bags. The weather is not so good today raining and a little cloudy so for the most part of the day we just mooched about shops and did some stuff on the internet. The batteries in the camera keep going so as soon as we can get some good ones then we will post the pictures.

As it was the friday before the ...

A great summer.

There is a town north of Corfu and it's really cool, but it's a village in some way.Though, I did visit the Corfu town and I must say it is AMAZING. All those fortresses and fancy resturants and bars were a total hit! Everybody was so relaxed, people aren't that stressed at all. I ...

This little port was strange at first glance. From a distance the whole place seemed to be half built. And we later found out that a lot of money was invested to build all these new apartments and then the funding was directed into the defence of the country and so the buildings remained in this half built state. Maybe one ...

Villa life on a burning island

... for a donation. Most tourists were content to stay outside the compound and drink a Coke in the small taverna that overlooks the eastern flank of the mountain and the dry denuded hills of Albania.

Having spotted beaches in the distance from the mountain, we engaged the scooter and rolled steadily downwards. Spiralling to the bottom, my hands clutching the brakes the whole way, we rejoined the winding country road that led us north to the coast. Cacti grew by ...

After returning to the old town, we went once again, to our new favorite restaurant, and had octopus once again. Dennis struck up a great conversation with our waiter.

After dinner, we walked down to the little pastry shop close to our room. We bought pastries, and then walked back to our hotel.

The proprietor was there and awake. He motioned for us to put our things up, and then to ...
