... How difficult could it be, it’s only 193 miles away! So with Ness behind the wheel for the first stint, glasses on and concentration on her face, I was sat in the passenger seat with the Croatia roadmap folded out – I forgot how big these roadmaps are – nearly half the size of Liechtenstein! So with only the relevant section of the map folded out we set course for Rijeka.
The scenery changed ...
... through. It was a challange to drive there.
We went to Stara Baska next. Now that was a nice trip! We went all the way to the end of yhe road and were surprised to find a nice little secluded bay where you could swim. We got our swimming stuff and hopped on down to the beach. That was nice. The water was cristal clear and boy... Even more cold than the other places we had swom. The view from the water ...
... is nice and the restaurant isn't too far away either.
We had dinner at the restaurant and watched the match Argentina - Switzerland.
Unfortunately Erwin wasn't feeling too wel. He was coughing all the time and had a soar throught.
We made plans for the next day. We will drive around the island and swim at some of the beaches along the way.
Departed on another wet day. After our peninsular stay we moved onto Rijeka about 450km north only 30 min from the Italian boarder. Rijeka was un upmarket port city. Young people and tourist filled the squares and the port pier. Great fir evening walks. Our apartment was small ...

public works projects along the foreshore. This includes the
Lungomare, a 13 km long elegant public walkway along the shoreline.
Everywhere else the seashore is alienated by private dwellings and
massive hotels that like to make their bit of seashore ...
