Days 11 and 12: Pisa, Florence and Rome
... painted buildings and lampposts along the river. So we walked down to the Square of Miracles (loose translation) to see the Leaning Tower. We had so much fun just walking around, going into the cathedral and crying, and taking tons of stupid tourist pictures that were awesome. Travel day to the fullest
... on a search for some green space in which to lie down and take a nap. Easier said than done, as we slowly discovered that people in Florence apparently don't sit down. Anywhere. We even tried to get into a church to relax on the pews in the shade, but there was a 3.50$ entrance fee! So back we went to the train station, and collapsed on a bench halfway down one of the platforms. Phew. ...

... museum since the 1800’s, the statue’s dominating presence is impressive and much taller than I expected. Viewed from every angle, the statue of David is a magnificent piece of sculpture and probably Michelangelo’s finest. His depiction of the biblical David (from the Old Testament) is that of the physical perfection of a 17year old Italian youth. 'Fair Firenze' - Florence
... for ages in the rain :) The inside of the Duomo is very bare compared to the facade outside, but the inside of the dome is painted in fresco, and is beautiful! It is 'The Last Judgement', and when we got up to the start of the actual dome up the steps, we could see how they had painted the very top of the dome to make it look like the people were 3D and had their legs dangling over some railings.
