... our heads. Karen went straight down the falls of a large protruding rock and managed to stay on the kayak.
I went down a rapid sans equipment, just using my life vest and holding my feet high out front to ensure that I wasn't going to get snagged on a rock, was great fun.
Got back to the hotel around 6pm...exhausted, had a great steak, wrote this blog and bed.
Drove 384 miles in 8.5 hours.
Another tough day behind the wheel. Awoke tired after our previous two days so got away at 11am. Apart from a 5 mile stretch on the I-90 just before Missoula we had no way of getting to our destination using interstate highways so we were left to the single lane state roads and constant stop start as we entered every small town in Montana.

Our stay at the Bonneville Fish Hatchery has come to an end. It seems like we have just started our month here, not ended it. We would have liked to stay longer but we must visit Jil's Mom and brother before winter sets in. Our launch date is October 1st but the weather man predicts rain- once again. Our boss, Hugh, graciously offered us a chance to stay another day as the weather is to improve. We thanked him and said we would play it ear, so to speak.

... out of town, we had to stop at a pastry and pancake house because we were drawn in by the two porches covered by gorgeous flowers - it was also a Christmas and leather shop. We sat on the porch and had coffee, and decided to come back another day for the pancakes, since we were on our way to Happy Hour at a dear friend of Neela's who invited us to her home.
