Frecciarossa back to Milan. Had enough of cities, though Bologna has character, and want to get out to country. Hotel breakfast ok- scrambled eggs and meatballs and big flat round bread loaves. Had trouble understanding Trenitalia ticketing machine and paid for 2 tix, but not expensive- 4€ and 6€ for second and first class tix to Como. Lots of 'helpers' at machines- Africans everywhere. Safer to buy tix in office where there is an employee helper. Good cheese and ...

... believed I had a reaction to the vaccinations we had the week before. I spend most of the day in bed. Fortunately though, I am able to eat, famished from the little sustenance I had ingested the previous day. My mind was willing, but my body not. My mind kept me unrested; it longed to participate in what I had intended to come here for. But as the sun and heat drained all my energy, I spent another day in forced penitentiary. The next day, I am able to help with ...

      1603. Italy's Most Musical City

... it everywhere. Walking through the old city you'll hear live music coming from the upper stories... mostly violins, but other instruments as well. Here people come from all over not just to learn to play music, but to make musical instruments. And these are made, not in big, streamlined factories, but in back alley shops. There's something very lofty and majestic about this place. To explore an old Italian city is one thing. To do it while being serenaded ...
