    ... we decided to move the bus. It took 20 minutes of minute manoeuvres to get the bus around the corner and onto the terrace. The plots were all too short for us and there was no chance of turning the bus around. Instead we parked in the access drive to the sites but as there was no-one else around it didn’t matter.


    We stayed another 5 nights enjoying the peace the beautiful countryside and the sun. ...

    ... fort.... This is a magical place, so we just had to return again for the wonderful evening we knew it would be.....
    Cannes just has to be visited, and very glamorous it must be during the film festival, but apart from some beautiful older and very elegant hotels, expensive shopping and equally expensive restaurants, It seemed to lack the charm of the smaller towns.....

    ... most important local location for sailors and merchants. Why? Well, the island offers safe harbour from the west, defendable positions from the cliffs and freshwater springs. Sounds perfect as a pre-history weekend stop over. So much so that those nasty Romans turned up, conquered then fortified the acropolis into a fort and naval base.     ... they are serving the best Nicoise in the city! Thankfully we arrived after the market but could see that the area around the market zone was a bustling place to eat, drink and while away a hot summer afternoon.     ... and there were even some glaciers. I had never seen snow-capped mountains before! I can only imagine how beautiful it is when the whole area is blanketed by snow. There were castles in the valleys about every 10 minutes. I've really developed a love for castles.
