... colleagues, by reading a novel on the park bench and enjoyed a slow afternoon doing NOTHING! In our never ending search for increased steps/walking miles, we entered the old section of Menton and climbed via narrow winding ways to the top of the old town. On our way we encountered the chapels of the black penitents and the white penitents, neither open for reflection as to their differences. We continued upwards fueled by a ...

Besides...who goes to an amazing canyon and only sees it by bus? We did...well no...almost.

One saving grace was a 30minute stop in cute village with an interesting patisserie.

The entire town of course is completely set up for tourism. Tourism and more 'residences' of various princes and so on. Not a lifestyle we were born into thats for sure.

In Portofino we did a small walk as a group up to the church and lookout on the hill on the left hand side ...

... length of the small beach, it was probably between 50-100metres wide and very shallow. Surprisingly the water wasn’t cold and after my 10minute goal I extended the swim to 20minutes. Can’t say the water was spectacular (quite murky) but you can’t expect beaches like our Perth beaches everywhere.

After this, mum was also inspired to swim and she tried out her super new Italian kick board for support. We ...
